LIBRARY TALK – MAY 8, 2025

From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
Seems that pictures of students are pretty popular, and with graduation just around the corner, we thought another cute class picture or two would be fun. This is from the 1957 Ripple yearbook. Lots of familiar names! Enjoy. Just a reminder if you plan to attend the RULH alumni banquet on May 17th, tickets are available at the library for just a few more days.
We just received back 30 books that we sent out to be rebound. Why do we need to do this? Some books are hard to find or expensive to replace, and we may be the only library in the consortium that owns it. We don’t rebind all that many (the cost keeps going up and up) but to maintain our quirky yet useful collection, we take the time to do so. Everything from Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865 to some early Andre Norton juvenile titles to a genealogy book on the Thompsons of Brown County—always a mixed bag, but these books were in pretty sorry shape, and now look and feel much better.
On May 21st, several Master Gardener volunteers will be holding a workshop on container gardening here at the Ripley Library. Right plants? Right soil? Creative ideas? Some materials will be supplied.
This is a free program, but space is limited and slots are going quickly. Please call to sign up 937-392-4871.
