From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
School days! Seeing the yellow school buses and wrapping up the successful Summer Reading Program allows us to realize most of the kids are back in school. Of course we have to have an ‘old school’ twist with our pictures. The once elegant Higginsport school building is no longer with us, but lots of kids got their education in that building. This picture is from the 1925-26 High School Annual, and they included earlier grade class photos. Each class picture in the book has familiar last names, and we suspect many will be known to our readers. As always, we welcome you to stop down to the library and peruse our old yearbooks. We don’t have them all, but our collection grows. Our Russellville Branch library has a decent collection of Eastern yearbooks, but always looking for more.
Now is the time for the ‘littles’ to have their ‘library school’ start—next week Ripley Toddler Tuesdays will start September 2nd at 10:30 a.m., and preschool (ages 3-5) storytimes will start Wednesday September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. — Russellville’s storytime has been postponed until after the Brown County Fair. More updates as they become available.
We will be closed next Monday, September 1st in observation of Labor Day. Due to staffing issues, Aberdeen will also be closed Saturday August 30th.
