LIBRARY TALK – FEBRUARY 7, 2025

From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director

Bustling metropolis of Ripley! Postmarked 1911. Methodist steeple standing straight, some of the buildings gone on both sides of 2nd Street, but you can still tell it is Ripley.
We’ve mentioned the eBook resources all cardholders have access to—fiction, nonfiction, classics, best sellers, juvenile books—many both to read or to listen to. Sometimes, just like physical books, there are holds and a waiting list to get the title, sorry! Another feature of the Ohio Digital Library is the access, without a waiting list, to magazines. Today’s highlight on their site is food magazines—we would never have the room for 290 foodie magazines, but you can browse them on your own device to your heart’s content. Many of the traditional titles such as Gourmet, or Taste of Home special issues, but also specialty themes such as Mediterranean Diet, Meal Prep Made Simple, Tea Pleasures, Vegan, Keto and more are available. Other broad categories include news, crafts, travel, sports, tech and gaming…we encourage you to check out this free resource. Some of our patrons don’t want to read a whole book on their screen, but a magazine to flip through might be lots of fun. Access? Easy. Can go to our website at Ripleylibrary.com and click on eBooks, or better yet, download the Libby app, have your library card ready, and explore.

FYI, the genealogy club will be meeting on Thursday, February 13th at 6:30 in the Ripley library meeting room. All are welcome as we try to solve those pesky family tree questions.
