From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
Looking out the front door of the Ripley Library, we can see the nice, trim Studio 28 building. In our postcard collection, we have a few from one of the prior businesses and we wonder how many remember the fairly short-lived (mid-1990s) but quite unique Uva Environmental Elements store owned and operated by Tom Hoskins. He had an eye for design and creativity, and also….an expresso machine in the back! Tom also had the Hoskins Manor up on Main Street. On the back of the postcard it, in part, reads ” Can you believe it. April already, my how time flies. We are very excited about this month. Our special guest speaker is Jessica Berman, from the world renown Hopewell Farms, a major design studio…..Also we are honored to have been invited to the Cincinnati Flower Show.” Tom brought new and interesting decorating ideas and pieces to Ripley.
We hope that everyone had a good Christmas and safe celebration for the new year. As we look around the library, time to take down the Christmas themed books and put up a variety of ‘how to’ titles—think of them as an inspiration for your New Year’s resolution—try something different, read a different genre than you are used to, even grab a cookbook and try a new recipe! We think 2024 went by too fast, and probably the same will happen with 2025, so join us for the ride, and we truly wish everyone a happy, healthy, productive New Year.
