From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
We had fun reading the comments about remembering colorful Paul Schroth last week. Looking at the Ohio Magazine August 1983 article again, we thought maybe a picture of a Ripley businessman of a different demeanor would show a hint of the diversity of our town. Raymond Linn ( b.1898-d. 1993) ran the M. R. Linn’s Men and Boys Shop for over 50 years, was very active in community organizations, was Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1982, and was clearly a part of the fabric of Ripley.
While not ‘officially’ fall yet, we see the pumpkins and other fall decorations all around, so we’ve added a bit of decoration and book selection to match. If you need ideas for decorating, fall comfort food recipes (think soups, pumpkin bread, casseroles, late summer fried green tomatoes….) we’ve got you covered. Of course, the weather this week feels very summery.
Weather is always a topic for discussion, especially forecasts! Please check out our new addition to the RipleyLibrary.com website—the Ripley Weather Central link is in the top ribbon on the front page. This is for deep dive weather and conditions—river gauge readings, air quality, radar, dewpoint and more.
FYI, no story times during next week (Fair week)—hope everyone has fun at the fair.
