LIBRARY TALK – SEPTEMBER 12, 2025

From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
Thanks to a donation to the library, we have the August 1983 copy of the magazine Ohio. There is a long and entertaining article about Ripley by John Baskin with photographs by Robert Flischel. We chose this photo to pique your interest as we are pretty sure there are many memories of the Valley Gem Marina and Paul Schroth. While this was published over 40 years ago, some comments could have been made yesterday. Other colorful folk mentioned in the article are Punk Richardson, Judge Dale, Norman Bare, Jacob Schwab, Miriam Zachman and more.
This Saturday, September 13th the Friends of the Russellville Library are having their annual ‘Book & Bargain’ sale from 9 -1. We’ve peeked in the storage closet and it is jam-packed, and if the previous years are any indication, it will be a lovely ‘mess’ of books, DVDs and decorative items, along with a few antiques and miscellaneous gems. The Russellville Library is located on Main Street (Rt 125) across the street from the Russellville Elementary School. The Friends use the money raised to help with programs, purchase t-shirts for the Summer Reading Program, enhance the library collection and more. Stop by on Saturday morning and find a treasure or two and help out your local library. Thank you.
