September is National Library Card Sign-Up month, along with a slew of other ‘National Months’. Everything from Responsible Dog Ownership Month to Fall Hat Month, Apple Month to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Truly, we think everyone could find a reason to celebrate or promote a cause in the month of September. Back to the library card—if you don’t have one, we encourage you to stop in and apply—for adults, all we need is a proof of identification and address, for children, a guardian/parent needs to come in. What does a library card do? Well, of course there is the traditional and still popular checking out of books, movies, magazines and the like, but your card also allows you to check out and download eBooks and eAudios, so from the comfort of your home, you can download from many titles to read or listen to—all ages and categories to choose from are available.
Last notice! Russellville’s popular Book & Bargain Sale is this coming Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.– loads of books and donated items–something for everyone.
Ripley’s Friends of the Library meeting is Monday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m. and all are welcome. On Thursday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m. the genealogy group meets—bring your questions to the table and see if we can figure out where the family ‘twig’ is that is alluding you.
As we are writing this, there are still a few slots available for the free autumn-themed adult slate painting workshop next Tuesday evening (Sept. 17th) at the Ripley Library. If interested, call quickly, as our art workshops are always filled. 937-392-4871.
