LIBRARY TALK – OCTOBER 21, 2023

Off
From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
Postcard time again. This is an early 1903 or 1908 postmark card. (Can’t quite tell which year) According to the Aberdeen-Huntington Township Museum Sampler, this view is looking north from High Street. With pictures like this, we really wish Aberdeen had subscribed to the Sanborn maps as we could have picked out the type of businesses that were all along Market!
Just a few head’s up tidbits. The Ripley Friends of the Library are doing their Trunk or Treat on Halloween from 6-7:30 pm in the library parking lot. They have at least 17 ‘trunks’ already signed up, and there is still room if you wish to participate. Not just candy to choose, but several organizations are joining up to provide hot dogs, hot chocolate, chips and other goodies to make it a fun night.
In November, we’ll be welcoming back author Terry R. Cooper. Since his visit earlier this year, he has a new book out and several due to be published before the end of the year. He’ll be at the Russellville Library as well as the Ripley library. More information soon.
