LIBRARY TALK – SEPTEMBER 22, 2023
From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
OK, back to the envelopes of pictures from the Ripley Bee! The top photo resonates with the library with the poster in the background stating “There’s A Treasure To Be Found In Books” (So true). The St. Michael kids are James Trapp, Zac Sutton, Chris Klump and Vanissa Shumacher, This was in the September 29th, 1988 Ripley Bee.
The bottom photo is of the Ripley Blue Jay Reserve cheerleaders who were Grand Champion Finalists at the International Cheerleading Foundation’s summer camp. Left to right—Mary Ann Emmons, captain, Tammie Hamilton, Tanya Simms, Nikki Howard, co-captain, Christy Hauke and Elizabeth Lancaster. This was in the September 11, 1986 Ripley Bee.
As we pen this article there are just a couple of spots left in the Thrifted Ghost Painting craft workshop on October 3rd. Call quickly if you are interested, as we will be holding the class to a comfortable number in the library meeting room. 937-392-4871. FYI, do not PM the library Facebook for sign-ups or library collection questions—in person or over the phone is the best way to ‘talk’ to us. October is also the month Ripley Library will be trying out our ‘Toddler Tuesdays’ for 1-2 year olds. 10:30 – 11:00 am starting on October 3rd—Miss Julie is looking forward to having a fun time with this fun young age group.
Hard to believe it is coming in on October, and the Ripley Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a Trunk or Treat event on Halloween again—we are delighted that this is becoming a true ‘tradition’ for us and look forward to seeing the variety and ingenuity of the costumes as well as just the fun of hanging out and talking to your neighbors and friends.
