LIBRARY TALK – AUGUST 20, 2023

Off
From the desk of Alison Gibson, Director
Last week’s picture of the gas station/restaurant seemed to be a hit, so we thought we’d look for a few of the advertisements from other past owners. We did find that some were mentioned in columns, such as having donated to an event, or a group met there for lunch, but no real ‘ad’. This is just a sampling, but we thought it might bring up more fond memories!
While it has been hot and humid—typical August in the Ohio River Valley, we are noticing that some of the fall materials are leaving the shelves—children’s books on apples and pumpkins, first day of school, falling leaves and the like, while in the adult area, cookbooks of soups and squash themes are moving. With school starting this week, we guess fall isn’t all that far away….
The Ohio Rural Heritage Festival will soon be upon us, and as usual, we will be closing at 5:00 on Friday, August 25th to make room for the parade, and closed all day on Saturday, August 26th. Both of our branches will have regular hours on those days, so if you need a library ‘fix’, we encourage you to stop by the Russellville or Aberdeen branch.
