LIBRARY TALK – JULY 1, 2021

Off

Good grief, July already—half the year gone.  This July much more open than last year, and looking forward to the various outdoor events celebrating Independence Day.

The summer reading program marches on—we’ve happily given away t-shirts to children that have met their goals, and there is still time to do this—the bonus ‘spirit tail’ for completing the goal by early July has been a hit as well. We were a bit concerned at the beginning of the program that kids and parents were out of practice since we didn’t have actual programs last year, but hey, we should have never worried! Thanks to everyone that has been participating—new kids and ‘old family’ alike.  Next week on Wednesday July 7th at 11:00 am, we will have Jim Kleefeld, magician back for the kids (he was here in 2019). He takes the Tales and Tails theme and creates a unique show geared to our younger reading audience, and we are happy that he is willing to return to Ripley. Thanks to the Ripley Friends of the Library for supporting this program.

A reminder that we are offering fun robot classes for ages 8-12, 12-14 and 13-16 at all three libraries later in July. The class for the youngest group is filling up fast (filled at Ripley) so if you think your child might be interested in a fun introduction to programming a small ‘bot, call the library, find the dates and sign up! To have hands-on experience, the classes are very small.  Ripley-937-392-4871, Aberdeen 937-795-2534, Russellville 937-377-2700
