LIBRARY TALK – MAY 20, 2021
Beginning this week, the Russellville Branch Library temporarily will be open only until 6:00 p.m. rather than 8:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. This means Russellville hours will be Monday/Wednesday 12-6, Tuesday/Thursday 10-6, Friday 12-4, Saturday 10-2. This should be for about 4 weeks, and we will keep you posted when regular hours resume. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you need a library in the evening, both Ripley and Aberdeen will still have their later hours.
Crazy week for COVID rules—some relaxed, some expected to be relaxed but not until June 2nd, and who knows what else will come from Columbus during this week! So for now, only if you are fully vaccinated, masks are optional to enter the library. However, we still will ask for social distancing, keeping the current limit on number of people in the library at a given time and encourage use of the hand sanitizer stations. Thanks for being patient.
2021 Summer Reading Program is about to begin! Themed Tails and Tales, we plan on having lots of fun with our kids. Sign-ups start next week—with a free library tote, a reading log and a chance to see what we are planning to do—you may notice a bit of jungle theme in the libraries that works well with the Tails part of the program. Ripley sign-up starts Wednesday the 26th, Russellville starts Thursday the 27th and Aberdeen starts on Monday the 24th (These are the days of the week each library will be having programs) I know it is repetitive from years gone by, but the research and the words from teachers all strongly point out the importance of reading during the summer. This is to be fun reading—no tests, no essays, just reading what you enjoy.
