LIBRARY TALK – MARCH 12, 2020

The author talk by Dan Pinger about his book A Reporter’s Memoir: When the Mob Ruled Newport  scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed—we do not yet have a new date, but will let you know as soon as we do.

The library does have several copies of Mr. Pinger’s book in circulation if you wish to read beforehand.  2020 looks like a year of author visits.  We enjoy supporting authors—knowing several, we know it is hard, hard work going from concept to printed product, and it is often interesting to hear about their path to publication as well as finding a new author to read.  We will be having Rick Houser in at the Ripley library on Saturday, March 21st at 10:30 a.m..  You may have read his columns about the good old days in Clermont and Brown Counties while he was growing up, or observations of today from the same area he still calls home. His latest book is titled Memories are From The Heart, and he will have some for sale.  So for a little bit of local ‘walk down memory lane’, please join us in welcoming Rick to the library.

Later in the year, we will have Ruth O. Webster who has written 2 books that have local connections. Both are fictional with a good deal of research from the area—taking place during the Civil War, and the problems of family members on both sides of the issue. Ruth has family roots in the area, so her research had a personal drive. She will be in the area in July, so stay tuned for more information.

Next week our annex will once again be the polling place for both the Village of Ripley and Union Township.  Polls will be open on Tuesday, March 17th from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the primary elections.
