LIBRARY TALK – DECEMBER 19, 2019

Seems only yesterday that it was December 1st! So…rolling right
along, stuff for this week includes the next genealogy club meeting on
Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Ripley library meeting room. We are really
pleased that more people are attending the meetings, bringing their
family questions as well as discoveries. All are welcome.

Saturday the 21st we will be welcoming Robert Hawkins to the Ripley
Library for an author talk. Robert’s book, A Book of Matches discusses a
time and place (Peebles, Adams Co.) in the 1940s where Robert’s
grandfather was unexpectedly and brutally murdered. Robert not only
discusses the murder and the attempt to solve the crime, but also the
time period—what was life like in Peebles as well as the United States
during the 1930s and 1940s? Robert is a graduate of West Union High
School, and now is a professional musician in Nashville, TN. This is a
book he has been compelled to write—not only for his family history, but
the story of strength in overcoming adversity and the power of family.
Please join us in welcoming Robert E. Hawkins to the library. Robert
will have copies of the book for sale.

FYI, the Ripley Library will be opening at noon on Friday December
20th. We try to limit the change in hours to a minimum, and it is the
easiest when the branches don’t open until noon already, as they do
every Friday!

During next week, we will be closing at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas day. We hope that you and
yours have a warm and fulfilling Christmas, spent with family and
friends.
