Last week’s two events at Ripley were very successful!  We were pleased and amazed at how many kids came to the Friends-sponsored  Trunk or Treat—the wind was blowing, the temperature was bone-chillingly cold, but it was very well attended. Thanks to all of the organizations and individuals that set up a ‘trunk’ to make this happen. A special thanks to the Ripley Fire Department that brought out a fire engine and hung around to talk to kids (and adults) about the department and the fire engine.

The 2nd annual Holiday Market was also a success—a mix of repeat vendors and new, all seemed to enjoy the crowd. I was pleased to see many people talking to the artisans, not just running through the booths and leaving. It has been our goal to bring talented individuals to one location, and I expect this event to grow, maybe even inspire some other locations in Ripley to support other artisans or vendors on the same day. (1st Saturday in November).

Tim McKeon will be at the Aberdeen Library this Thursday November 7th at 6:00 p.m. to help people with questions about signing up for Medicare. With the enrollment deadline of December 7th fast approaching, Tim is a good resource for asking which way to sign up, what advantages and disadvantages there are between supplemental plans and so much more. This is a free program—Tim will present an overview, but there will be plenty of time for questions and answers. The Aberdeen Library is on Route 52, close to the Dollar General store. Aberdeen Library’s phone number is 937-795-2534.
