LIBRARY TALK – SEPTEMBER 19, 2019

The Friends of the Library had a very successful fish fry and silent auction. As with most successful ventures, there are many, many people to thank and appreciate for all of the work done behind the scenes. Of course, thanks to the artists for taking the time to create the wonderful assortment of pieces for the auction—this year was different as we didn’t have everyone start with the same ‘blank’, and it seemed to work! With the fish fry—we thank Pepsi-Cola Bottling for their donation of water, the Lions Club for the use of their shelter on such a perfect summer evening, all of the men standing around the hot fryers, but especially Greg Gilbert and his mastery of fish frying and special coating for producing such brag-worthy fish, the Friends members that made desserts, cowboy beans, set-up, cleaned up, worked like maniacs to have such a smooth event. Also thanks to Greg for creating the vintage water ski chair that was raffled off Saturday evening.

Not to be overshadowed, the Russellville Friends of the Library had their Book & Bargain Sale on Saturday morning, and with their dedicated crew, pulled off a record-breaking day. Thanks to all that came and supported the Russellville library and to everyone that donated books and stuff to sell.  It is rewarding to see communities pull together and feel that the libraries are worth their support. Thank you.

Reminder—this Thursday evening, the genealogy club starts up again at 6:30 p.m., all are welcome to share tips, tricks and stories on finding ancestor information, and at the same time, different room, will be the next River Village Christmas meeting to help plan the festive events for our little town.
