LIBRARY TALK – JUNE 6, 2019

We had fun with the kick-off to the summer reading program—tossing ‘moon rocks’, playing in ‘moon sand’, creating swirling planetary artwork, and of course, eating Moon Pies!

If you missed our kick-off, not to worry—there are still 5 weeks of fun programming left, as well as all summer to read. You may sign up at any time, at any of our libraries, as long as you are between 3-17 years of age.

The sorting of books for the book sale began early this week—we’ll have at least 30 tables filled with a wide assortment of books for you to browse and find treasures. The book sale starts this Friday from 6-8 p.m., then all day Saturday from 10-4 p.m..  There are a lot of new donations in this sale, and we will bring out ‘new’ stuff on Saturday, so my advice…plan to stop by on both days. Fill in your favorite author collection, grab some classics you’ve always meant to read, find that cookbook that has your new favorite recipe, (we have 2 full tables of cookbooks this sale!) explore the biography collection, pick up a juvenile book for your child or grandchild.. tons of stuff, easy to fill a bag or box (or pick-up truck..) The donations help the Friends of the Library help the library—several of the programs that are being offered this year are sponsored by the Friends, as well as helping out with the summer reading program incentives.  I think Friends book sales are the ideal win-win—treasures for you and the library! Thanks.

Last notice, next Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. long time performer Jim Kleefeld will be in the Ripley annex dazzling the young crowd with his Astronaut Andy and flying alien Zork program,  with fun and a (sneaky) push for reading during the summer. We hope you can join us. Questions? Please call 937-392-4871.
