LIBRARY TALK – MAY 2, 2019

This past Saturday, 18 kids had the wonderful experience of assembling a rocket and going out to the high school to launch. Thanks to the Interact for Health and Brown County Educational Service Center for providing the funding for the material for this STEAM project, and many thanks to Tom Zachman for all his time, expertise and enthusiasm for introducing rockets to the kids. The day would not have been possible without the help of the other adult volunteers, including Jane Zachman as instructor, Walt Orlowsky as photographer, and Nathan Pfeffer assisting in assembly and launch site preparation. Our hope is that there is enough interest to possibly form a rocket club here in the area.

The cold weather on Sunday didn’t keep people away from our Sad, Seamy, Sinister Side of Cincinnati program, and I thank everyone that attended. The time went fast, and our speaker even admitted he didn’t get to share all that he knew—  we are considering asking him back for another session of the SSSC…..what do you think?

This coming Sunday at 2:00 p.m.in the library annex, two local couples, the Zipperians and the Stranges, will be talking about their decision years ago to do something different in their middle age—they took up serious bicycle riding for fun and health.  Their first trip was to Nova Scotia, then Vermont, and having success, went to Europe to log lots of miles.  Come listen to their adventures and what they learned, see pictures and enjoy refreshments selected to represent the areas they travelled. This is a free and fun event, and all are welcome.
