Cold weather (and then unseasonably warm weather) doesn’t prevent us from planning programs, and we hope that you can join us.  Did you know that we have ‘open’ one-on-one opportunities to help you with your technology questions? Be it a Kindle, a laptop/tablet, smart phone or on one of our desktop computers, we have scheduled times for you to sit down and talk to someone. Or maybe you want to learn about downloading books or taking professional online classes from Lynda.com?  Stop in, our folks will help you out.

At Ripley, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:00, Matt is here to assist you. At Aberdeen, Jeremiah blocks out Tuesday afternoons from 2-3:30 p.m. to sit with you, and at Russellville, we have Rebecca, a Guiding Ohio Online representative that is present for several hours on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To be sure you have time with our resident experts, please call the library of your choice to make an appointment. (Ripley 392-4871, Aberdeen 795-2534, Russellville 377-2700) You can also just ‘walk in’, but it is a safer bet to have an appointment. Of course, the rest of the time we are open, the staff can help with simple questions, we just may not be able to sit down and dedicate a block of time.

The chair yoga program is half way through the 6 weeks, and we welcome you to participate—no experience needed. This coming Saturday the program will be at Aberdeen at 10:00 a.m.. The program viewed this past Saturday was well liked. We are trying out different productions of chair yoga, and will be adding several DVDs to our circulating collection.

Storytimes for toddlers 3-5 years old continue at all three libraries in February. Aberdeen 12:30-1:30 p.m., Ripley Wednesday 11-12:00 a.m., Russellville 11-12:00 a.m.  Snow, birds, ‘love monsters’ and other fun topics are on tap for your young ones.

Special programs this month include the visit from “Col. Sanders’ on this coming Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Ripley library annex. His history is fascinating and inspiring, and yes, we will be bringing in a sampling of the Kentucky Fried Chicken!

February is Heart Health month, and we want your kids to learn something that is fun and healthy just for them—on Wednesday, February 12th at 6:00 p.m. at the Ripley library, we will have an instructor from the Maysville YMCA teaching yoga for kids 6-12 years old. Never too young to learn how good the calming, breathing and stretching a session of yoga can be. All we ask is your child bring a towel or mat to the program. Please call to reserve a spot.
