LIBRARY TALK – NOVEMBER 8, 2018

Library Talk November 8th, 2018

As I write this, it is before the election votes are in, so I remain cautiously optimistic about the county-wide passing of the library levy. I thank everyone that put a sign in their yard, the kind supportive words and the help towards the levy committee—all much appreciated. We really try to give Brown County residents quality service for their ‘dollar’, and continue to expand and explore new programs, new items and new ideas while maintaining the concept of free information, education and entertainment for all.

Our first Holiday Market was a success!  We had lots of people take their time to browse, talk and purchase items from artisans from around the area.  For the educational element we had hoped for a bit more in the demonstration category (the wool spinning was mesmerizing), but best laid plans and last minute no-shows sometimes throw a minor wrench in things…  We had also worked some cross-marketing for Ripley in general, and the weather was fine, so a good event all around. Thanks to everyone that participated, both artisans and the crowd that ventured in.

Wow—the two penguin program seatings we had scheduled for Friday the 16th sold out in two days! We are working with the Cincinnati Zoo to see if we can either expand the seating a little bit, or add another show, so please call if you are interested, as we should know by mid-week if we worked something out. Thank you for your understanding.
