Library Talk – March 8, 2018

Off

Library Talk, March 8th, 2018

Most of the muck and mud gone, the sun is shining, the spring flowers are emerging, and the flood scare is receding.  Let’s hope that is the only high water for the year!   Other than realizing we don’t want our hot water heater in the basement of the annex (yes, it does take on water…) we at the library were lucky.

Thanks to all that came to the second “Cutting the Cable Cord” talk—we were very pleased with the turnout, and hope that everyone that attended walked away with a clearer understanding of some of the options—not for everyone, but a very workable solution to lowering your monthly cable bills.

This Saturday, March 10th, we will be having Shaheen Miro back—a very popular speaker on the subjects of intuition, psychic abilities and so much more. This time, Shaheen will be talking about discovering your own creative and intuitive side. He has also just published a book and card set that could help you even more unlock your own inner strengths, and the set will be available for purchase this Saturday.

With spring in the air, and the dandelion greens, poke, red buds and other plants awakening from their winter sleep, it is a good time to talk about wild edibles, so we have invited back Christine Tailor to talk about the safe and yummy plants that are in this area that you can collect, eat and cook with—this presentation will be on Saturday, March 24th at 10:30 am in the Ripley library. Of course, the presentation is free and open to everyone.

The March calendars for storytimes is up on our Facebook page (a reminder, this is a public Facebook, you do not need to have a Facebook account to read) Here at Ripley, we have preschool 2-4 year old classes on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. and Wee Movers and Shakers (6 months to 2 years old) on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m..  At Russellville, we have the preschool program on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., and homeschoolers (grades 2-6) on Fridays at 3:00 p.m. Kim Pedigo does such an awesome job of singing, reading and crafts for the young, and great science activities for the homeschoolers– we hope that you will take advantage of these programs. Please call to sign up, and we welcome you to join us in these enriching programs. Ripley 392-4871, Russellville 377-2700.
