Library Talk – December 7, 2017

Library Talk December 7, 2017

Holiday happenings!  Due to the weather forecast of c-c-cold on Friday, the singing and presentations associated with the tree lighting will be held in the library annex—we’ll leave enough room for the kids to gather together to sing along with all the other presentations. Time will be the same, all starting at 5:30 p.m. this Friday. After the ceremonies are completed, the Friends of the Library book sale will begin! Same building, so you don’t have to wander outside in the chilly air.  There will be hot chocolate to drink as well as listening to music played by the Ohio River dulcimer group.  Great way for the community to gather together and kick off the River Village Christmas week-end.  Hope to see you here. Remember, the library book sale supports the Friends of the Library, who in turn support the library in many ways with their volunteering at and purchasing of materials and programs for your hometown library.

A thanks to the crew that make the tree lighting possible. Every year Red Malone searches for, harvests and delivers a beautiful tree—this year a 16 foot cedar.  Thanks to Steve Thomas for allowing us to have a tree from his property. Finally, making the job of setting the tree so much easier than before, the village of Ripley crew brings the bucket truck and man power to set the tree and string the ‘high lights’. Many hands make for better, quicker and safer work. Thanks to all.

The next event at the annex is just a little over a week away—Magic Santa returns, along with Mrs. Claus and her face painting skills on Monday December 18th at 7:00 p.m.. Along with Santa, there will be singing with Harriet Groh, crafts for the kids as well as refreshments.  The kids have a good time, plenty of opportunity for photo ops with Santa, and just a fun party atmosphere. Santa has been asking for years when he could have a room big enough for everyone—this year, we can say we’ve got it!
