Library Talk – September 7, 2017
Library Talk, September 7, 2017
On Tuesday, September 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Ripley Library annex, we happily announce the return of Harrison Pedigo’s Ripley River Jam. We won’t know how many musicians will show up (all are welcome), we don’t know what songs will be played and sung, we just know it is great fun, and the more musicians and music lovers show up, the more charged and entertaining it is—so please join us in raising the rafters and having a great time with local talent. As always, this is a free event and all are welcome.
The third annual Friends of the Library delicious fish fry is rapidly approaching—scheduled for Saturday September 16th from 5-7 p.m. As with previous years…there is a silent auction attached, and the theme? Birdhouses! All shapes and colors, and they are starting to come into the library for display as well as placing bids. We have everything from a locally made fully functional multi-dwelling Martin bird house, to two entries this year painted by children, others carved, some polished, some painted, some from repurposed items, some cute, some awesome, all unique and very cool. The money raised by the auction goes to the Friends, who in turn, help the library purchase items and programs. Soon there will be pictures of the birdhouses on our Facebook, but we encourage you to stop in and pick your favorite(s) and start the bidding as well as planning to attend the fish fry.
Russellville Branch Library is holding their annual Book & Bargain Sale this Saturday from 9 a.m.-1:00 p.m.at the Russellville Library—280 W. Main Street, Russellville—right across from the elementary school. (Main Street is also Rt. 125) This sale is to help the Friends of Russellville Library support the library as well as have some fun items for sale. Lots of books, as well as ‘bargains’—I’ve seen a few of the donations come in, and they are pretty darn nice. If you have some stuff (no clothes please) that you wish to donate, you are welcome to drop it off at the Russellville Library. If the weather is bad, the rain date is Saturday, September 16th.
Reminder that on Wednesday, September 12th at 6:30 p.m. Ripley Library will be having a class covering two popular library-oriented apps for your phone or tablet. Bring your device, and we’ll show you how easy and quick it can be to place holds, download eBooks, search for new authors and movies and so much more.
