Library Talk August 31, 2017

Ah, September. Not officially fall, but somehow, when we are start the ‘ber months, it seems like autumn.

Jeremiah Costa, our computer IT staff member at Aberdeen, has set up September’s free computer classes, and there are some interesting topics this coming month.  Classes are on Thursday afternoons at 2:00 p.m..  First class, on September 7th will be a beginning overview of MS Word—what the toolbar icons can do, how to cut and paste images into a document (think flyers, signs, brochures with graphics).  Then, due to interest and requests, there will be a 2 week class on September 14th and 21st on creating a web page and web site—starting a business? Don’t want to rely completely on Facebook for your web presence? Just curious how web pages happen? We welcome you to attend. Lastly, on September 28th, there will be a Question & Answer class—have a question about your phone/tablet/laptop? Working on a project that just isn’t clicking? Bring it in, and we’ll help you out.

Did you know there are some cool apps out there that make downloading Overdrive eBooks really easy? There is also an app for your phone that can allow you to manage your account, scan a barcode of a book that might be at your friend’s house that you want to put a hold on, place holds of items in the system, even give you some recommendations of good books to read! Join us in learning what BookMyne and Libby can do for you on Wednesday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Ripley Library. Program is presented by staff member and book/computer specialist Matt Carpenter.

Ripley and Russellville are starting up the weekly story times for the little readers.  Both will be starting next week. Ripley for ages 3-5 on Thursdays at 10:30 am, and Russellville for toddlers  ages 2-4 years old on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.

Closed Monday September 4th in observance of Labor Day.
