Library Talk August 24, 2017
Thanks to all that came to the program this past Saturday— for those that were in the audience, there is still no good explanation as to why the equipment turned on by itself! The science behind some of the false positives on spirit presence as well as the mysteries still unexplained were very interesting, and we will have the Haunted Higginsport DVD ready for circulation soon.
I hope the eclipse met everyone’s expectation, and I want to let everyone know that we were not in the ‘loop’ of libraries that received glasses to give out. I know the media, especially the radio announcements, inferred that all public libraries received glasses and if you wanted a pair, just stop by—but we didn’t get any! After hearing about some of the glasses that were ordered by schools and other organizations not really being safe, I’m ok with not having asked for money from the Friends of the Library to try and purchase some in the last few weeks.
This weekend is the Ohio Rural Heritage Festival, and as we usually do, the Ripley library will be closed on Saturday, but our branches in Russellville and Aberdeen will be open their regular hours from 10-2 pm, so if you need a library ‘fix’, I recommend you visit them. On Saturday, in our annex, there will be a quilt show and a photograph exhibition from 11 am-5 pm, and I encourage you to stop in if you are in the area.
Good news! The Ripley River Jam will be returning on Tuesday, September 12th from 7:00-8:00 pm in the annex. Musicians and music lovers all invited—if you’ve been to one before, you know they are lots of fun—we know Harry Pedigo will be the ‘ring leader’, but until the doors open, we don’t know who else will be jamming with us, and where the music will lead, but it is always great fun as well as an amazing showcase for local music and comraderies.
