Library Talk May 4, 2017

The Aberdeen Friends of the Library are planning a week long book sale at the Aberdeen Branch Library. They haven’t had a sale for several years, and the donations, as well as some weeding of the collection, have created a ‘mountain’ of books, soon to be ready for perusal and purchase!  Because there are sooo many books, this is the kind of sale you should visit more than once, as the Friends will be adding new material as space becomes available every day. The sale starts this Friday, May 5th at noon when the library opens, and will remain open during library hours through next Friday, May 12th.   If you have any questions, please call the library at 937-795-2534. If you haven’t been to the Aberdeen Library, it is just before the Dollar General Store going towards Maysville right on Route 52.  I believe this sale will be the beginning of a ‘rebirth’ of library Friends in Aberdeen, so I hope that you will stop by to look for awesome bargains as well as to support the Friends.

Next week, May 9th  from 6:00-7:30 p.m., the Industrial Development Advisory Council as well as local officials will be holding a “Town Hall Meeting” at the library (if pre-event the crowd looks big, we may move to the annex) to discuss economic development in the Mason, Fleming, Adams, Lewis, Robertson, Brown and Bracken County area. By promoting a region, rather than just a town or county, for potential businesses to relocate or start new, it is hoped more economic development will happen, and would be good for employment and development for all.  The group plans to have a meeting in each of the counties covered, so this is your chance to speak up for Brown County as well as here what has been done to encourage local growth.
