Library Talk – November 9, 2017

Library Talk November 9, 2017

First up, we will be closed on Saturday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.  Our region is full of military participation from the very early years to today, and we thank all the veterans for their service to the country.

I often mention ‘hot’ new books of popular authors to encourage our patrons to place requests on the titles, but that isn’t the only type of books I select.  While I am not a big fan of sales people coming into the library, I do have a few I’ll see, and one that stops in once or twice a year usually has an interesting selection of how-to titles from publishers I might not get a catalog from—so here are a few books from this batch with fairly explanatory titles:  The Electric Fencing Handbook by Ann Hansen, Install your own Solar Panels by Joseph Burdick et al, Healthy Posture for Babies and Children by Kathleen Porter, To Be Gifted and Learning Disabled by Susan M. Baum et al, Clueless in the Kitchen: Cooking for Beginners by Evelyn Raab, The Short Story of Art by Susie Hodge, and Let’s Party: Unique Kids’ Birthday Party Ideas by Martine Lleonart. So, all over the map, some very narrow focused, but useful if you need the information and some just fun to browse.

Just a reminder, we are in full swing of preschool story times for little ones at the Ripley Library (Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.)  and the Russellville Library (Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.)—crafts, stories and fun! Check out our website (www.ripleylibrary.com) for scheduling of all of our events.  Our Facebook page also has events, scheduling and interesting local stories to keep you up on the news at Facebook.com/ripleyohiolibrary.
